About Us

Lotte Me ck immigrated to the US from Germany in 1928. A few years later she met Louis M. Kelly and eventually married. Lotte came from a baking family in Bel in, Germany. Louis M. also had a baking background. They started with a simple bread wagon and bakery in Plaster, NH delivering bread to the area.

The restaurant shown above in 1912 was owned by Lotte's family in Germany prior to her move to the US. She was only 17 when she immigrated to NY  to join other family members that had already made the journey.

Discovering the charm of the lakes region they launched the Yum Yum Shop in 1948 in beautiful Wolfeboro, NH.

Louis and Lotte had a son, Louis E. Kelly, and he helped them run the business until their passing in the late 90’s. Prior to that he managed the 17 Yum Yum Shop locations our family owned in New England. In 2010 Louis E. retired making room for the next generation of Kelly bakers to step in & continue what Louis M. and Lotte started here over sixty long years ago. Please visit us to learn more about our long history!
